The Mornington Peninsula. A slice of paradise tucked away in Victoria. Beautiful on its’ own, but add the Jackalope Hotel to it and it becomes a must see destination. The Jackalope is a 46 room boutique hotel found amidst gently sloping hills. This is my perfect destination, and now the first on my holiday go – to list!
The buildings that comprise the hotel are clad in dark zinc, charred timber and black metal detailing. The building themselves look like agricultural pieces, barn like structures. These two opposing styles mixed together produces a bold modern take on the area.
Who is the mastermind behind this? Melbourne based entrepreneur, Louis Li. Li moved to Melbourne to study filmmaking and has used the bones of the hotel as his creative platform. The intention of Jackalope is to take the guests through a journey exploring all forms of design.
The design focuses on ultimate relaxation and luxury. Floor to ceiling windows and terraces provide all round stella views, while you could easily spend all day in the bathroom with the deep soak Japanese tubs and rain showers.
I could keep going on and on about the theatrical, the playfulness, the bold and darking use of black (everywhere) but I really want to let the pictures do the talking, enjoy!
