The Gregory Hills Community Centre is a community facility located in the Town Centre Precinct of Gregory Hills available to be hired out by community members and groups. distinctive was tasked with developing the landscape architecture of the site, as well as the wayfinding signage of the Community Centre.
Having worked on multiple projects around the Gregory Hills site including the public art strategy and parks, we have become very familiar with the lifestyle created within Gregory Hills.
For the community centre, we were engaged with the landscape architecture of the site, and the graphic wayfinding and signage of the building. Both these aspects built upon one another to create an overall brand identity for the community building within the Gregory Hills suburb. We were entrusted with the naming of the two function rooms within the community centre, naming the rooms Donovan and Molloy, in reference to the history of Gregory Hills.
Elements such as the Gregory Hills brand colours have been used consistently through the site. Key signage has incorporated the three main colours creating a destination point of entry into the community facility. This has been replicated into the landscape architecture with the fencing of the site using the same three brand colours. Furthermore, these colours have been continually used in the Gregory Hills Town centre precinct shopping centre, with panelling.
Working closely with Dart West Developments we have been able to build a rapport with the developers allowing for a complete design to be developed within the space. The community centre provides residents with the ideal space to host many community-based events and activities as well as be hired for special occasions. The centre is facilitated through Camden Council.
